Bat surveys

Bat surveys

An experienced bat handler, I hold a level 1 bat survey licence and am fully vaccinated. Whether you require assistance on emergence surveys, or a full Preliminary Roost Assessment (PRA) with report, please contact me. I have some of my own night vision equipment (Nightfox Whisker) and bat detector (Echometer Touch), which can enable consultancy resources to be used more efficiently.

Great crested newt and amphibian surveys

Great crested newt and amphibian surveys

With a great crested newt licence held since 2012, I have extensive experience in surveying.  Running the county’s reptile and amphibian conservation group, I have led countless surveys and over the years trained many other surveyors. In 2015, I was part of the team that trialled eDNA monitoring, and since 2022 have used this extensively in my work.

Reptile surveys, translocating and monitoring

Reptile surveys, translocating and monitoring

Drawing on a lifelong interest in reptiles, Natrix Ecological brings experience and knowledge to any reptile-focussed work. Whether it is designing and undertaking a survey, translocating reptiles or monitoring the reptile population on a site, please get in touch. Years of working closely with herpetological conservation groups researchers means that a genuine passion and concern for animal welfare is brought to the work.

Nesting bird checks

Nesting bird checks

It is an offence to disturb or destroy bird nests, with most work likely to do so taking place outside of the nesting bird season (March-August). Should you require a nesting bird check, I have undertaken these on construction sites and elsewhere and would be happy to assist.

Badger rescue, surveying and sett closure

Badger rescue, surveying and sett closure

Having been actively surveying and working with badgers for many years, I recognise the importance of accurate surveys for both badgers and the people who live around them. With experience of badger rescue, sett surveying and sett closure, I work closely with another experienced ecologist in order to bring knowledge and professionalism to this work.
